Greetings, Education Minnesota members! My name is Sue Snyder. I hope 2011 is off to a good start for you.
I am a sign language interpreter, an Education Support Professional, working for Saint Paul Public Schools. I am running for an ESP position on the Governing Board, and I would like to tell you a bit about my union service.
I have been a proud member of Saint Paul Federation of Teachers since 1994. Currently, I hold the officer position “Director of Non-Licensed Staff.”
With SPFT, I have also
- Held the offices of Secretary and Treasurer on the Executive Board
- Served as a member of the Executive Board
- Participated on four educational assistant bargaining teams and two educational assistant labor-management teams
- Participated in membership committees:
- “Celebrating 30 Years of Educational Assistants in SPFT” Committee – chair
- Financial Audit Committee - chair
- Election Committee - chair
- Steward Committee
- Social Committee
- Budget Committee
- Served as a building steward for 12 years
With Education Minnesota,
- I am serving my first term on the Governing Board.
- I have been the ESP Council of Local Presidents since 2005.
- In 2004, I was EM’s representative for NEA’s “ESP of the Year.”
