Philosophy as a board member: My opinion is that the Governing Board should serve as the brain trust for Education Minnesota. Therefore, I envision our primary task will be to research and discuss solutions to the challenges facing the education system in Minnesota. Further, the Governing Board should work in a proactive manner to prepare our schools and union members for the challenges that education in Minnesota will face in the coming years. Members of the Governing Board should understand and encourage diversity in its deliberations and openly communicate its reasoning behind its decisions to its members.

It is my belief that our union’s strength is in its membership. Education Minnesota is most effective when its members are interested and engaged in education issues. Further, I believe that our members want to have a voice in shaping education initiatives and policies. I feel that one of the primary duties of my position on the Governing Board will be to communicate effectively to other union members in District K, and encourage them to be engaged in their union at all levels.
