Denise Specht was elected secretary-treasurer of Education Minnesota at the Representative Convention on March 17, 2007. She assumed office July 1, 2007.
Specht spent the last five years as president of the Centennial Education Association. She also served as a Title One teacher at Golden Lake Elementary in the Centennial School District. She has extensive leadership experience in her district and local. She served on the district budget reduction task force and facility use task force and as president, vice president, treasurer, building representative and alternative compensation committee in the Centennial Education Association. She also has state and national experience, serving as chair of the Education Minnesota policy development committee and as a representative on the National Education Association’s resolutions committee.
Specht is especially interested in issues related to professional pay and benefits for school employees and advocating at the Legislature for adequate funding to maintain the high-quality public schools we are so proud of in Minnesota.
