These are the action Items adopted by the March 17-18, 2006 Representative Convention.
Action Item A
To develop a campaign for “$40K Right Away and a Living Wage for ESP” to be launched at the 2006 Education Minnesota Summer Seminar.
Action Item 1
That Education Minnesota develop a task force to address issues related to fair share fee payers. Among the responsibilities of the committee will be an examination of how Education Minnesota may assist locals to deal with audits and/or loss of revenue associated with fair share fee payer prorated dues. The committee will report its recommendations at the December 2006 Governing Board meeting.
Action Item 3 (referred to Governing Board)
To study the dues categories to include an hourly category which assesses these members at a lower rate than 1-25% employment.
Action Item 5
That the Education Minnesota Governing Board shall examine fiduciary duty and the interpretation of this duty in various organizations, including, but not limited to, Education Minnesota, the National Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, and at least two other states’ associations and federations. Once the study is completed, the final report shall be delivered to local presidents across the state. This task force will be completed by October 2006.
