Submitting proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws
Education Minnesota must receive proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws by Jan. 9. We strongly encourage you as a delegate to submit proposed amendments to allow enough time for the Constitution and Bylaws Committee to work with you to identify and correct any procedural flaws or internal inconsistencies.
The convention has the sole authority to amend the Education Minnesota Constitution by a vote of two-thirds of the delegates present and voting. It also has the sole authority to amend the Education Minnesota Bylaws by a vote of 50 percent plus one of the delegates present and voting.
Under the Education Minnesota Constitution and Bylaws, Education Minnesota must email proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws to all local presidents with the official Convention Call no less than 60 days before the convention. Education Minnesota will email the Convention Call to all local presidents for distribution to their delegates and alternates by Feb. 24.
In addition, Education Minnesota will email the agenda and copies of all proposed bylaw amendments to individual registered delegates three weeks before the convention.
