New for 2009: professional learning communities

Whether you’re new or a returning TALL activist, Education Minnesota has an exciting year ahead for TALL 2009.

TALL activists will concentrate on the work of professional learning communities as problem-solving, action-oriented collaborations. Within the TALL network, activists will identify their professional development issues and team up with colleagues to brainstorm, strategize, learn and practice new skills.

Are you looking for new ways to collect and analyze data? We have a PLC group for you!
Are your staff development committee meetings ineffective? Inefficient? We have a PLC group for you!
Do you want more than a book club model for discussing hot topics? We have a PLC group for you!

Whatever your issue, you’ll have an opportunity to team up with colleagues who are also searching for effective staff development opportunities.

We will start together in early January, break out to work in small groups over three Saturday sessions later in January and February, then come back together again to network and share in March.

Dates and locations

Opening session: Jan. 9-10, Bloomington Sheraton, highways 100 and 494, 5-9 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday
Saturday sessions: Choice of three dates, locations and topics; choose to attend one or all. Topics will be determined at the opening session; you will be able to access all topics at a location of your choice.

St. Cloud, Bemidji or Mankato, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Jan. 24, Feb. 7 and Feb. 28

Closing session: March 13 and 14, Bloomington Sheraton, highways 100 and 494, 5-9 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday
