Come to the Capitol this weekend; stand up for public education
We're at a critical time in the legislative session. This weekend, legislators may be debating the education omnibus bill, with provisions that would end or diminish your union rights, establish private school vouchers, limit your pay, tie your evaluation to student test scores, take away aid from schools in most need, and model our schools after Florida's.
We need you at the Capitol
We know you're busy, but we must provide a constant, visible presence at the Capitol this weekend on behalf of public education. Other union members and labor groups will be there as well, speaking up for working families.
We've scheduled three "Lobby Days" when you can show your support. Each event lasts only a few hours, but legislators must see that we're paying attention, so please stay for the whole shift.

I've never lobbied before. What do I do?
Don't worry. We'll provide details on what's happening at the Capitol and give you talking points on the issues. Then you'll walk a block to the Capitol and talk to your legislators about the impact of their actions. Too many kids in your class? Let them know how that affects learning. Students who speak little English? Tell legislators about efforts to help them. Only you can talk first-hand about conditions in your schools.
We hope you'll join us this weekend. Time is running out, and we need as many members as possible to stand up for public education.
I can't make it. What else can I do to help?
