Survey members' talents, interests to increase union involvement
As a local president, you know there are many tasks to complete for your union to operate smoothly. More often than not, however, those tasks fall to a small number of identified leaders in your local.
You also know that the success of your union depends not only on the leadership team but also the members themselves. How do you identify members who are willing to participate? How do you identify areas in which members can participate? How do you tap into the talents and interests of your members to match them up with tasks and activities in your union?
This Member Talent Survey will help you identify members’ areas of interest outside of the workplace. Once you know what their interests are, it will give you a better idea of whom you could contact to ask them to do just one thing to help their union.
You can also use the American Federation of Teachers LeaderNet Survey Creator tool to create an electronic survey to send to your members. It's an easy tool to use, and you can even grant access to other local members so they can oversee the survey themselves -- if that's among their interests!
