Celebrate Labor Day at union events

Fifth Annual Day Before Labor Day Celebration, Olcott Park, Virginia, noon-5 p.m. Aug. 31

Brainerd/Baxter Labor Day Picnic, Baxter City Park, noon-6 p.m. Sept. 1

Cloquet Labor Day Parade, 11 a.m. Sept. 1

Duluth Labor Day Picnic, Bayfront Park, noon-5 p.m. Sept. 1

St. Cloud Labor Day Picnic, Riverside Park, noon-4 p.m. Sept. 1

St. Paul Labor Day Parade, State Fair, 2 p.m. Sept. 1. The St. Paul Regional Labor Federation will march in the Minnesota State Fair Parade. Union members should be line up in the Parade Lot near Gate 25 off Como and Snelling avenues by 1:30 p.m. Please wear an Education Minnesota or St. Paul Regional Labor Federation T-shirt. RLF T-shirts cost $15 and will be available for purchase at parade line-up. In addition, Twin Cities Musicians Union will provide music throughout the day at the new Minnesota AFL-CIO Labor Pavilion at the State Fair.

St. Paul Take Back Labor Day, Harriet Island, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Music, food, entertainment, children's area and activities sponsored by the Service Employees International Union. Performers include Mos Def, the Splatter Sisters, Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre and more. Tickets are $10 plus applicable fees.
