ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 4, 2011: The following is a statement from Education Minnesota President Tom Dooher regarding Gov. Mark Dayton’s education reform plan.

“I applaud Gov. Dayton and Commissioner Cassellius for their seven-point-plan for education reform. We agree that closing the achievement gap must be a priority, and that investing in early childhood learning and development should be among the first steps we take. The Governor is keeping his campaign promise to increase funding for education; Minnesota will reap the benefits of such investments for many years to come. Education Minnesota supports the administration’s plans to develop better assessments of student learning, as well as their efforts to improve support for effective teaching. We look forward to continuing to work with the Dayton administration and all other stakeholders to help make our strong public schools even better.”
