AFT professional development conference takes place July 11-13
The AFT Together Educating America’s Children (AFT TEACH) Conference, a biennial event devoted to professional development, will be held July 11-13 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Details
- This is a conference – not a business convention – so you do not have to be elected to attend. It is an excellent professional development conference that is open to all members.
- Members attend at their own expense. Please check with your school district to determine if staff development dollars might be available for this conference.
- Education Minnesota provides funding for one member from each election district, as well as one statewide/higher education member and one educational support professional, to attend the conference. Local members interested in attending who would like to apply for state funding should complete the State-Funded Participant Form and return it by May 6.
- Funding includes payment of conference registration, reimbursement for airfare, one-half the cost of a double room and meals (per Education Minnesota policy).
The selection of state-funded participants will be made on May 9; those awarded funding will be sent the necessary information. Priority will be given to first-time attendees. Funding includes:
- Payment of conference registration.
- Reimbursement for airfare.
- Half the cost of a double room.
- Meals (per policy).
All local presidents will receive an information packet in mid-April from the AFT that includes a tentative schedule and hotel and conference registration forms. If you don't receive your information by May 1, contact Ann Bradley, AFT TEACH coordinator, at 202-879-4527.
If you have other questions, contact Janelle Warner at Education Minnesota, 800-652-9073, ext. 4867, or 651-292-4867.
