ST. PAUL, Minn. Nov. 16, 2017 – Nine candidates for governor will discuss education and economic issues Friday evening during a forum hosted by Education Minnesota. The event is open to the news media.
The candidates will respond to questions from 8-9:30 p.m. in Room 200 of the Minneapolis Convention Center. Jana Shortal of KARE-TV will moderate. The questions will come directly from working educators.
The event is part of Education Minnesota’s two-day political conference, which starts Friday afternoon. Journalists covering the forum will be allowed into the room at 7:45 p.m. The union will provide reserved seating, an area for cameras on tripods and equipment to plug into the sound system.
For journalists unable to attend in person, the forum will be broadcast online at The UpTake (theuptake.org) and on the Facebook page of Education Minnesota (www.facebook.com/EducationMinnesota).
As of Friday morning, eight candidates have accepted Education Minnesota’s invitation to attend:
- Chris Coleman
- Tina Liebling
- Erin Murphy
- Rebecca Otto
- Jenny Rhodes
- Christopher Seymore
- Paul Thissen
- Tim Walz
Organizers predict nearly 500 union members will attend the forum in person and seating in the room will be limited. While an RSVP from news organizations planning to cover the event is not required, it would be appreciated so we can ensure there is enough seating for everyone.
